I'd say that you have to use a plastic bowl because both the beer and the lemon are acidic and may cause some off flavors if put into certain metal bowls, like aluminum...I think stainless would be ok though.

I think I might try this recipe for our 4th of July party this year. But why do you have to use a plastic bowl and not metal? Just curious.
